I have had a long association with Curtin University, running sessions with their Entrepreneurship Team from their Growth Programs, Commercialisation team, Curtin Accelerate and Curtin Ignition. I’ve been involved with Curtin Ignition since it started, and maintained a constant involvement since 2011 in roles including as a presenter, mentor, and judge based upon my background in commercialisation and as a business coach.
Just this year, Curtin Accelerate 2024 has completed, and the cohort of businesses is of a high standard.
The Curtin Ignition Program is an intensive week-long entrepreneurial program that in 2024 ran from 1-6 September 2024. This program is designed for aspiring entrepreneurs, academics and corporate innovators to trial and prepare their business idea for the commercial market.
Curtin Ignition is suited to founders of early stage, high-growth business ventures and people with new ideas that have the potential to become worldwide businesses.
An exciting part of this program this year was the Silicon Valley technology investor and start-up expert Marvin Liao travelling to Curtin to support and guide attendees along with the other start-up experts and business leaders in the WA. I had the pleasure this year of sitting on a judging panel with Marvin and his insights were really valuable for the participants.
The total cost of this program is $3,750 and comprises of a blend of keynote and workshop teaching sessions, small group mentoring, panel, clinic and networking.
With this year’s sponsors, there will be up to ninety (90) fully funded scholarships that will partake on the 2024 Curtin Ignition Program.
Many people that have gone through Ignition have really enjoyed the feeling they have had of acceleration during the program – and then find that a return to normal pace seems almost intolerable.
